Jena, Louisiana trip

I just returned and it was great. We played at a small church that Pastor Jim Girouard(our singer/guitar) has been coming to for years to evangelize. It was Youth Saturday Night and Sunday morning service we played and Jim spoke. Sorry we all forgot to take pictures. One of the highliights was eating at Jennie's an area favorite with a buffet of home cooking. Good people and great eats; can't ask for much more.

One last Horaah

Well I am headed to Jena, Louisiana today to play worship for a youth camp and local church on Sunday. We made a worship CD a couple months ago and we will play most of those songs. I am toting Steve(bassman) and Dave(guitarhero) and our gear there in the truck. Staying overnight and home Sunday afternoon to pack for Iraq. I'll let you know how the Jena trip goes.

PreDeployment

I must say the military tries their best to get you ready but it's really all about personal preparation. It amazes me how much seemingly useless paperwork is done to get boots on the ground. Medical, Personnel, Training, Finance, & Logistics all play a big role in accountability, preparedness, & and troop movement. The Air Force(AF) makes sure you have what you need most of the time. I was lucky enough to get a full compliment of the new Airmen Battle Uniform or ABU the AF is switching to now. The woodland Battle Dress Uniform or BDU is on its way out, as is the DCU(desert camo uniform). One uniform for all missions and geographic locations.



Now that all our training is complete I have one more processing event tomorrow (more paper) then orders and itineraries can be done. For securities sake some info will not be given here.



I have been given 2 weeks of personal time to get my affairs in order with a few mandatory appointments thrown in. It's very gracious and needed.
